The project to redevelop The Conge, a former industrial area in Great Yarmouth, will see vacant and decaying warehouses bulldozed to make way for 82 houses.

The regeneration is part of wider plans to breathe new life into this neglected part of the town, coinciding with a scheme to transform North Quay into a retail and leisure destination.

But a report prepared for borough councillors ahead of a meeting next week says that timescales for the project have slipped because of the length of time taken to secure planning consent.

The report states that a planning application submitted by Broadland Housing Association and Orwell Housing Association was determined in January this year but is still awaiting completion of a Section 106 legal agreement before planning permission can be formally issued.

Council documents also reveal that negotiations surrounding the Section 106 agreement – which forces a developer to build local infrastructure – have stalled.
