Caisse buying 24% stake in India-based telecommunications provider, CPP Investments acquiring corporate services firm

The Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec is investing $1.76 billion to acquire a 24 per cent stake in India-based Altius Telecom Infrastructure Trust.

Brookfield Corp. will retain its status as the largest investor in the firm once the transaction is completed. The infrastructure behind mobile data needs to keep pace with the growing demand from India’s economy, people and businesses, said Emmanuel Jaclot, executive vice-president and head of infrastructure and sustainability at the Caisse, in a press release.

“With Altius, we are investing in an attractive market through an established platform, alongside Brookfield and other institutional partners with whom we have longstanding relationships.”

In other news, CPP Investments is completing its acquisition offer for JTC plc, a provider of fund, corporate and private capital administration services, alongside private equity firm Permira. The deal will net the investment organization a 20 per cent ownership stake through a $660 million........
