A federal judge has halted, for now, a Thursday deadline for President Trump to hand over documents detailing the finances of his business empire to the BBC. 

The BBC was set to receive them in discovery today as part of Trump’s ongoing libel lawsuit against the outlet, which concerns its editing of the president’s Jan. 6, 2021, speech as part of a documentary.

The president’s lawyers maintain their objections to handing over the materials. But they’re now hoping to revise his lawsuit, saying it would make the outlet’s stated need moot. 

U.S. District Judge Roy Altman, nominated to the bench by Trump during his first term, agreed to the president’s emergency request to halt the document production........
