Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan’s execution set for December

The execution of Nidal Malik Hasan, who was convicted of killing 13 people in the 2009 Fort Hood mass shooting, is set for December, according to the U.S. Army.

The Tuesday memo, obtained by The Hill’s sister network NewsNation, lists Dec. 3 at 1 p.m. CDT. It will be carried out at the Fort Hood base in Central Texas.

On Monday, Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell announced on social platform X that Hasan was sentenced to death by firing squad. Parnell, who has been floated as the next Army secretary, said Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth “recommended” the death penalty and President Trump “approved it.”
