BP board removes chair over ‘conduct issues’
BP announced on Tuesday that its chairman is out less than a year after his appointment, following “serious concerns” about his actions in the role.
The major oil company’s board said in a statement released Tuesday that it “unanimously” made the decision to remove Albert Manifold from this role, citing issues with his “governance standards, oversight and conduct.”
“Albert has helped bring a welcome focus and pace to BP’s transformation,” said the company’s Senior Independent Director Amanda Blanc. “However, the board has been surprised and disappointed to learn of governance oversight and conduct issues it deems unacceptable and has taken decisive action.”
