America can’t enforce its immigration laws without detention

As of April 4, 60,311 immigrants were being detained in ICE facilities. This is a substantial increase over the immigrant detention populations during the previous administration, which reported 40,500 immigrants in detention the week before President Trump took the oath of office.

The American Immigration Council claims that the Trump administration’s aggressive enforcement tactics have increased the number of immigrants being put in removal proceedings so rapidly that the detention facilities can’t accommodate them.
