White House deputy national security adviser Andy Baker is leaving the Trump administration in the coming weeks, the latest departure from President Trump’s national security team.

Baker, who previously served as Vice President Vance’s national security adviser, has been closely involved in the administration’s foreign policy decisions and was part of the U.S. delegation that conducted the first face-to-face talks with Iran in Pakistan earlier this year.

“This has been an amazing journey. I’m proud of everything we’ve achieved and, of course, am incredibly grateful to the President, Vice President, and Secretary Rubio,” Baker said in a statement to Axios, who first reported his departure.

Vance praised Baker as an “exceptionally gifted, deeply thoughtful” adviser.
