'It didn’t seem to be going anywhere' - rapper was nearly quit, then things changed
Drew Iain, from Gilwern, has loved music since he was a young boy even writing songs when he was just seven years old. As a teen and young adult Drew was in a metal band before turning his attention towards rap music and an ambitious solo career.
But, last summer, Drew nearly threw in the towel.
“I wanted to give up on music,” admitted the 30-year-old. “It just didn’t seem to be going anywhere. I was reaching out trying to book shows with no luck and it was disheartening.”
Little did he know, everything was about to change.
Scrolling through Instagram he spotted a competition by Valleys Events encouraging musicians to submit a 16-bar freestyle. The winner would open their next show.
