Mammoth Mountain has the highest lift-accessed ski terrain in California. 

A skier was sent to the hospital this week after they used a wing to fly across a run at the Mammoth Mountain Ski Area before slamming into a tree. The maneuver was a violation of federal regulations, according to the ski area. 

A fellow skier, who was riding the Cloud 9 lift at the ski area, caught the crash on camera and posted it to Reddit. The footage shows the skier swiftly flying through the air across the slope before taking a sharp turn, plunging into the snowy ground and hitting a tree. A ski can be seen flying into the air after the impact.
