Anthropic is running a physical biology lab as it pushes into AI drug research

The AI startup confirmed it has set up a Bay Area lab for physical experiments as it pursues drug programs in diseases pharma has overlooked

Anthropic has set up a wet lab in the San Francisco Bay Area to conduct physical biology experiments, as the company moves beyond computer-based research in its effort to develop treatments for rare diseases.

Eric Kauderer-Abrams, Anthropic's head of life sciences, confirmed the lab's existence in an interview with Reuters on Tuesday. "We believe that to do biology, the final test is still and will be for a while in real lab work," he said. "We absolutely are doing that today."
