LETTERS: Evidence suggests links to China and other letters
I would like to thank Dr. Sandy MacDonald, former president of Holland College, for his comments on my piece titled, Has history passed IRAC by? (July 16). After reading his words in Claims against IRAC lack evidence, on Aug. 6, I see that he and I basically agree that IRAC’s time “may indeed have passed” as P.E.I. faces an increasingly “complex world.” For this reason I and many other Islanders welcomed the recent commission hearings into IRAC’s past and present. Sandy Macdonald seems to agree that Islanders deserve greater transparency and accountability from their “regulatory agencies.” I do too.

Dr. MacDonald’s main objection to my article is that it lacks “evidence” that the Buddhist Bliss and Wisdom group on P.E.I. has links to Beijing’s Chinese Communist Party. But in saying this MacDonald ignores the investigative reporting by both the Globe and Mail and Radio-Canada which uncovered plenty of evidence that the Buddhist monasteries in eastern P.E.I. may not be as they appear.
