Re: Leading women of the world, May 21
On behalf of members of Mermaid Woman’s Institute, and indeed of all Women’s Institute members in P.E.I., I would like to congratulate Marie Kenny on her appointment as president of ACWW (Associated Women of the World). Thank you to Dave Stewart for this positive article which appeared in The Guardian.
ACWW is our local Women’s Institute members’ global affiliation and has brought to our attention many inequalities women face around the world. We have participated in such fundraisers as Pennies for Friendship, Women Walk the World, and Women Feed the World. Funds support small-scale, community-led projects.
It is a proud day when we can have Marie, from the smallest province of Canada, lead nine million women from 82 countries around the world.

Health care should not be a waiting game
Imagine needing medical care and realizing that there are not enough doctors available. This is the unfortunate reality for many across Prince Edward Island as physicians continue to retire, fewer replacements are announced, and our population rises.
Currently, there are roughly 35,000 Islanders sitting on a waitlist to get a primary care provider. Meaning thousands of people must then rely on........
