CHEERS AND JEERS: Cheers to PC party members for taking time to vote
Cheers to the thousands of members of the Progressive Conservative Party of P.E.I. for taking time out of their weekend to support the democratic process. Almost 5,500 Islanders cast electronic ballots Saturday to elect the next PC leader, who would also go on to become premier. This wasn’t a general election and only party members could vote, so it’s important that a good number of them turned out, listened to the speeches and considered the well-being of their province before electing a leader. Rob Lantz accumulated a little more than half of those votes, and now he has to convince the other 47 per cent of voting members and the rest of the Island he has earned the position of premier.
