The internet is a place with an incomprehensible quantity of wonders, entertainment, news, diversions and anything else you might want to discover.

Unfortunately, most of these items are not in plain sight and must be sought out. This is where a search engine makes itself indispensable.

At its most basic level, a search engine is Google or Microsoft’s Bing. Every second of every day the search engine’s automated “spiders” crawl the internet and take snapshots of every webpage they come across. The search engines index every word on the pages and compile massive annotated lists on gigantic servers.

Also, at a basic level, you enter a few keywords or a sentence into the search box and in milliseconds a list of websites with the most relevance to your search terms is generated.

That’s the way it has been for ages, but searching has now become a science with many options.
