Last week I celebrated my return to blogging and congratulating myself on my ability to stay alive these past 19 years.

In writing that article, I thought back to life on day one of OilersNation and tried to remember what I was thinking about in those days. What was my smooth-brained self thinking about in 2007? Oilers wins, surely, a pyramid of Rexall (Heroin) Beers stacked to the sky, nightclubs, Crank That by Soulja Boy came out that month, and I can remember that was a repeat. Things aren’t so different in the future.

That got me thinking: if I was somehow able to talk to myself on day one of the website, what would old me have wanted to know from the future? An article talking to myself almost 9000 days later would have been one hell of a concept. Perhaps a Star Gate is somehow involved — remember, 2007 me would undoubtedly expect Star Gates to be a regular part of 2026 life.

THE RULES

If using a Star Gate gave me the ability in 2026 to talk to myself in 2007 via a 2026 OilersNation article, there would certainly be rules. 2007 me would have immediately tried to use this opportunity as a “hack” to make “money.” 2026 me would want nothing more than to send back priceless stock tips or something to old me so we can ball even harder that we ultimately do. We have to keep the Q&A to 10 Oilers hockey-related questions, and responses must be vague and 10 words or less so as not to give 2007 me any advantages.

There can be none of this:

2007 me: So, do we get any good goalies in the future?

2026 me: BUY BITCOIN YOU FOOL LOOK IT UP AND FIGURE IT OUT AND PUT IN A GRAND OR I SWEAR TO GOD —

There can be none of that. All the questions would be submitted in advance, and there are no follow up questions. No advantages given in the answers.
