Aaron Rampling carried out a drunken and violent attack on the woman who lost consciousness before having to crawl out of their room at the Maids Head to escape him.

The woman suffered a double fracture to her nose in the attack by the 42-year-old in November 2024 but stayed with him.

Rampling was given a two year sentence, suspended for two years in February last year after he admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH).

But he was back at Norwich Crown Court on Thursday (March 5) accused of two breaches of his suspended sentence order.

It is said he failed to report as instructed on a date in November last year and that he failed to behave in an acceptable manner at a planned appointment on January 20 this year.

Rampling, who represented himself in court, admitted failing to attend a probation appointment in November last year.

But he denied the second reported breach in January this year which was subsequently withdrawn by the probation service as there was no further information about it.

Ian James, prosecuting on behalf of the probation service, said the breach in November had been the first by Rampling who had completed his unpaid work as well as other aspects of his suspended sentence.

Mr James said the breach had been something of a "glitch" for Rampling who was only left with some of his Rehabilitation Activity Requirement (RAR) to complete.

Rampling, who accepted the breach, told the court he was "broke" and in a "black hole of finances" but would pay a modest fine if instructed to.

Recorder Nicola Fitches imposed a £50 fine to mark the breach which she ordered Rampling, of Black Boy Meadow, Beccles, to pay in instalments of £10 a month, or face a day in custody in default.

She said although the suspended sentence was not being activated today it may well be if there were any future breaches.

But Recorder Fitches added that would be a "real shame given the progress you've made".

As previously reported, Rampling who had been “drinking excessively” made “derogatory remarks” to his partner while out, saying she needed to see a therapist.

After returning to the hotel at about 9.30pm, Rampling was so drunk he “struggled to get up the stairs” but began a “violent attack” on the woman when back in the room.

He grabbed her and “threw her out the room” although she came back and was attacked again.

She told him she was leaving but he punched her with both fists before pinning her down on the floor.

The victim recalled being hit in the face about four times before she lost consciousness.

She later crawled out of the room and sought help from hotel staff before being picked up by her parents and taken to hospital.
