The 38-year-old, formerly of Braithwaite Close, Norwich, had denied wounding but was found guilty of the crime following a trial earlier last year.

Benetas, who was also convicted of two counts of witness intimidation, failed to attend his sentencing at Norwich Crown Court on March 27 and has been on the run ever since.

But despite the Benetas still being at large and wanted, a spokesman at the Court of Appeal in London has confirmed the defendant has an appeal against his conviction due to be heard on Friday (March 6).

A spokesman for Norfolk Constabulary said "remained outstanding".
As previously reported, Benetas had previously admitted criminal damage after a window at the café was smashed in the incident during October 2018.
Jude Durr, who previously represented Benetas at his trial, said he had been told the defendant had been "feeling unwell for some days" before going to hospital.
John Morgans, prosecuting, urged the court to issue a warrant for his arrest.
Recorder Nicola Fitches put the case back to try and get more information but later issued a warrant for his arrest.
