Gyula Orosz, a carpenter, had been messaging someone on WhatsApp he thought was a 13-year-old girl but was in fact an adult decoy.

Norwich Crown Court heard the 46-year-old had been chatting to the profile in January 2022 stating initially he had been looking for a "chat buddy and maybe more".

Ian James, prosecuting, said conversation progressed to Orosz asking if she was "interested in boys" before asking her about her "boobs" and genitals.

Orosz sent her indecent images of himself and asked her sexual questions.

In a chat with another adult decoy, who claimed to be a 14-year-old girl, he asked if she liked "adult things" and that he liked "younger girls" and "younger teen girls".

He asked her for naked pictures and again sent indecent images.

When they checked his phone, police later found he had also had similar conversations with a girl who said she was 12.

He was caught when he was confronted by the paedophile hunters who contacted police.

Orosz, of Cotterall Court, in the Clover Hill area of Norwich - and who has been in the UK since 2012 - appeared at court on Friday (February 27) for sentencing.

He had previously admitted three counts of attempted sexual communication with a child, between October 2021 and January 2022.

Judge Anthony Bate said Orosz imposed an 18-month prison sentenced, suspended for 18 months.

He said he was "clearly highly sexually aroused" by the conversations.

Stephen Mather,  for Orosz, who spoke through a Hungarian interpreter, said the defendant, who was of previous good character, had been in a relationship which finished shortly before the offences happened.

He said they "came at a low point in his life" and after he "sought out company on the internet".

Orosz was ordered to carry out 15 days Rehabilitation Activity Requirement (RAR) and 200 hours unpaid work.

He was put on the sex offenders' register for 10 years.
