Afghan gang accused of rape and sex crimes brought to city court amid high security
The Afghans - six aged 20 and one aged 21 - are accused of the offences, including 33 counts of rape or conspiracy to rape, against two victims who were aged in their early to mid-teens at the time.

The seven suspects are set to appear at Norwich Crown Court today (Friday, June 19) for a plea and trial preparation hearing (PTPH).
But amid rising public anger and concern - and with protests planned in the city later today - they arrived at court in vans shortly before 9am with heightened security measures in place.

It was one of the only vehicles in the courthouse carpark after staff had been advised not to park their cars there such is the fear about what might happen.

While protesters had been due to attend court, on Friday morning just five of them - all part of the Norwich Patriot Group - attended.
