The Red Arrows aerobatic team are famous for their red, white and blue vapour trails.

They are known to set off together in a group of nine, creating impressive formations in the sky.

But one was seen on a solo flight over Norfolk on Thursday.

According to Flight Radar, it set off from RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire at 9.37am before approaching Norfolk at midday.

It crossed the Wash before entering the county near Blakeney and Holt, and then circled over Norwich.

The jet headed back along the north Norfolk coast before returning to Lincolnshire.

The full formation of planes will be flying over the Cromer Carnival on August 19, with the exact flight time yet to be confirmed.

"We are absolutely thrilled to announce that the world-famous RAF Red Arrows will once again be joining us for Cromer Carnival," a spokesman for the event said.

Another RAF plane, a Eurofighter Typhoon, was also spotted over north Norfolk on Friday morning.

It took off from RAF Coningsby just after 9am, before flying over Holt, North Walsham and Cromer.
