Target to get Norwich Castle keep revamp open for school summer holidays

Museum chiefs remain reticent to put a precise date on the reopening of the medieval landmark, following a multi-million pound transformation to recreate what the keep looked like in Norman times.

But Dr Robin Hanley, project director for Norfolk Museums Service, revealed the goal is to have the revamped 12th century keep open for the school summer holidays.

Museum chiefs previously conceded their hopes of a spring reopening had been dashed and that they were looking at a summer reopening.

Dr Hanley, at a meeting of the Norfolk Joint Museums Committee, said: "At the moment, we are being, perhaps understandably, reticent about pinning an exact date, but the target for us is absolutely for the school summer holidays."
