Hyderabad metro services likely to start at 5 am

South Central Railway urges Telangana Chief Secretary to begin metro services at 5 am. Chief Secretary advised HMRL officials to examine the matter.

Hyderabad: Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager of South Central Railway (SCR), recently appealed to Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao to ensure that Metro rail services in Hyderabad, which currently commence at 6 am, begin as early as 5 am instead.

“Every day, a massive number of people arrive in Hyderabad by train from various states across the country. The major trains carrying these passengers reach railway stations such as Secunderabad and Nampally between 4.30-7 am.

Trains departing from Hyderabad to cities like Tirupati, Delhi, Visakhapatnam, and Bengaluru—including the Vande Bharat, Rajdhani, and Telangana Express services—depart between 5 am and 6.20 am. Passengers are facing difficulties due to the unavailability of Metro rail services during this specific time frame,” he said in a statement.

Responding to this, the Chief Secretary advised HMRL officials to examine the matter. Although Metro trains currently depart from Nagole, Miyapur, and LB Nagar stations at 6 am, it takes until 6:20–6:30 AM for the first metro train to reach Nampally and Secunderabad railway stations.
