‘Can’t govern by imposing emergency’: Amit Shah breaks silence on Gen Z NEET-UG protests

Amit Shah says the BJP believes in dialogue and discussion as he responds to student protests over alleged NEET-UG 2026 irregularities. The Home Minister also speaks about the UCC, India’s zero-tolerance terrorism policy and its growing global standing.

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said the Bharatiya Janata Party believes in dialogue and discussion while responding to questions about recent student protests over alleged irregularities in NEET-UG 2026.

Shah said people in a democracy can have different opinions and should be able to express them. He also rejected the idea of using Emergency-like measures to deal with opposition, saying that was not the BJP’s approach to governance.
