Hanuman Ansh, made on a Rs 1.75 crore budget, is eyeing Rs 100 crore. Director Vishal Chaturvedi opens up about its box-office turnaround and audience response.
New Delhi: What began as a modest Rs 1.6–1.75 crore production has turned into one of the year’s biggest box-office surprises, with Hanuman Ansh now eyeing the ₹100 crore mark. In an exclusive conversation with News9 Digital, Director Vishal Chaturvedi said that the film’s simplicity, music, relatable characters and strong emotional core have helped it connect with audiences, particularly beyond the major centres.
Reflecting on the film’s remarkable turnaround, its devotional response and his two-decade journey to bring it to the screen, Chaturvedi says he always believed the film would eventually find its way to the masses
Q. So, magic has happened. A film that was made for Rs 2 crore is now going to touch Rs 100 crore. How do you react to this?
The film is actually made somewhere in between 1.6 or 1.75 crore rupees. We can call it a magic. And definitely, we are very excited to hear all of this. But yes, number doesn’t matter. We never thought of the Rs 100-crore club. But we really feel blessed that it happened.
Q. What do you think connected most with the audience?
I feel people liked the simplicity of this film the most. The music and the characterisation—most of the characters are simple, relatable, and haven’t been seen before. I guess these are the three things people are connecting with the most. Also, the emotional quotient of the film is very high without having much drama, and that is what people are liking the most........
