Kolkata: Despite all efforts to the contrary, there are quite a few instances of Tatkal tickets from Indian Railways being misused. In other words, they are often not used by the person in whose name they are purchased. In a significant step to iron out such deviations and increase transparency, Indian Railways keeps continuously making changes to make the ticketing system more transparent. The latest change that is being introduced in Tatkal ticket booking is issuing of tickets after OTP verification.

The objective is to curb black marketing of tickets. In future Tatkal tickets will be issued only after OTP verification. in other words, buying such a ticket will not be possible without OTP verification.
