PM Modi urges teachers to go beyond syllabus, understand students’ lives and talents

Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged teachers to move beyond textbooks and syllabus, understand students' lives and identify their hidden talents.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday urged teachers to look beyond textbooks and prescribed syllabus and take a deeper interest in the lives, interests and challenges of their students.

Interacting with winners of the National Teachers’ Awards at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg on the eve of Teachers’ Day, Modi said education should not remain limited to books and classrooms. He stressed that teachers must understand children closely and help them deal with issues they face in everyday life.

“We have to get out of books, we have to get out of syllabus, we have to get into the lives of children,” PM Modi said during the interaction.
