Opinion | Like Pakistan, Bangladesh Has Turned Into An Open Marketplace For Murder
During a private conversation, one of India’s topmost national security officers once explained how easy it was to shop for a jihadi in Pakistan who was ready to kill or get killed for money.
“By making Islamist terror the main pillar of its state policy, Pakistan has created a society where in every lane and bylane, one can find a jihadi willing to murder or a fidayeen prepared to blow himself up. It does not even cost much to hire one…a few thousand rupees sometimes," he said.
The nation was like a large terror factory, with killing outlets everywhere. Since the primary client, the Pakistani State, can only employ a certain number of jihadis at one point of time, the rest freelance for any client who comes by.
Over the last 16-and-a-half months, Bangladesh has recreated Pakistan within itself.
