Prime Minister Mark Carney was in Beijing this week, meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping and other high-ranking Communist party officials. After landing in China on Wednesday, Carney posted a video of himself waving before descending the steps of his plane to enjoy the red-carpet treatment.
“The relationship between Canada and China has created opportunities and prosperity on both sides of the Pacific. We’re ready to build a new partnership — one that builds on the best of our past, and responds to the challenges of today,” he wrote. Usually, leaders talk first before making such declarations.
