The Future of Fitness May Be Peptides
For decades, the fitness industry has operated on a relatively simple premise: if you want to change your body, change what you eat and how you train. That is still the foundation of fitness, but with advancements like GLP-1 medications, the future is evolving and fast. Peptides (like GLP-1s) are not new, but our understanding of what they do, and what their potential could be, is. Of course, as with any new, exciting possibility in wellness, we've seen the conversation around peptides reduced to a hot hashtag on a feed, or represented as a shortcut to weight loss they refer to as "biohacking." That misses a much larger story.
What I see with peptides is larger than a social media trend. I believe we may be watching the beginning of a much broader convergence between fitness and medicine, with the potential being greater than we can imagine. The arrival of GLP-1 medications has already demonstrated how powerful targeted biological signaling can be. Science is now moving beyond asking how much weight one can lose to how we preserve specific physical functions as we age.
