As if his old-school views on women, marriage and family weren’t bad enough, the Vice President of the United States has just revealed he likes a TV show so bad it makes Sex and the City 2 look like The Sopranos.

JD Vance has just called Emily in Paris “the Shakespeare of our time”. His taste apparently peaks at a show so trashy it even made posh French people angry. The show, like Cardi B’s “WAP”, Joe Wicks and Tiger King, was one of those strange cultural phenomena synonymous with Covid. People had nothing to do, so they binged it.

Now, I totally get a hate-watch, watching something so bad it’s good. We all do it. But it was Vance’s recent remarks about the show that took things to the next level. Because his interpretation of Emily in Paris genuinely revealed something much more interesting about him: just how wildly out of touch his idea of how millennials should be living our lives.
