A Hacker Tested Surveillance-Busting Patterns 31 Million Times. Now He’s Turning Them Into Clothing

A Kansas City hacker just made a car disappear—to algorithmic surveillance, anyway.

Bill Swearingen, a hacker and former telecom CISO, teamed up with YouTube channel Donut Media to wrap a Toyota Yaris in a pattern that was meant to confuse Flock surveillance cameras. He ran the test at the Def Con cybersecurity conference in Las Vegas, TechCrunch reported, telling the outlet he “proved it was effective” and plans to release a demo video in the coming weeks.
