Fading ‘Keralam Model’

Keralam, once celebrated for literacy and educational progress, is witnessing a decline in the quality, governance and credibility of its higher education system. Political interference, favouritism in appointments, chaotic academic calendars, delays in examinations and results and toxic campus politics have weakened the system. Students increasingly migrate elsewhere for timely academic progress and better learning environments. The authors examine the reasons behind this decline and stress the need for quick reforms.
