Scotts, a family-run business, revealed in January that it had secured a lease for a new premises in Blyburgate, in Beccles.

Now renovation works are in full swing to get O'Donnell and Son: Traditional Shoe Repairs and Key Cutting ready for its planned opening at the end of the month.

Jason O'Donnell, who helps run the repair business, said: "I am extremely excited to get up and running,

"The response from the community has been nothing but positive, including people stopping to come into the store during these works with enquiries and feedback."

The new shop is officially due to open on Monday, March 30, with a special launch event taking place on Saturday, April 4, attended by the mayor of Beccles, Barry Darch.

Renovations include installing a new workspace with O'Donnell and Son branding and fitting specialist machinery for shoe and leather repairs, as well as key cutting.

The unit, formerly home to Beccles Laundrette, sits near the entrance to the Roys car park.

Mr O'Donnell runs the business alongside his son Charlie O'Donnell and daughter Shannon O'Donnell.

Miss O'Donnell said: "We are all extremely proud of my dad's new venture.

"He's been a show repairer since before I was born, and it's all we've ever known, all of his three children have had stints going to work with him and learning the trade, and myself and my younger brother are now both proud employees of the business.

"Beccles is a really special place to my parents and my dad has always been a shoe repairer but this is the first store he's completing from installation, alongside my brother."

Until a dedicated Beccles page is launched, the family is sharing updates via their existing Scott's Thameslink social media accounts.

O'Donnell and Son will offer a wide variety of services including sole replacement, leather repairs, and specialist restorations.
