Town's annual award in memory of beloved community champion nominations are open
The annual Bungay prize was created in memory of Lucy Walker, who helped organise various town celebrations before her death in 2022.
Sponsored by her late father, Hugh Robertson, the award offers a £500 prize and recognises individuals or independent businesses who help bring spirit to the town.
Previous winners include Toto Martinez, who received the inaugural award in 2004, and joint winners last year, William Drew-Batty who initiated the popular Thursday lunchtime concerts, and Pete Sewell, organiser of the Bungay Folk Festival.

This year the award will be presented at the Annual Town Meeting at the Fisher Theatre on April 29, alongside Bungay Town Council's Civic Awards.
Organiser Didy Ward said: "The Lucy award is designed to recognise those personalities who, like Lucy's, do so much to personify the amazing community spirit we have in Bungay and who bring joy to us all."
The deadline for entries for the 2026 award is April 2 and nomination forms available online at bungay-suffolk.co.uk/blog/the-lucy-robertson-walker-make-a-difference-award/ and Bungay Library.
