Leisure centre next to former workhouse lodges green energy bid
Nick Hughes, of Blyth View Management company, has sought permission from East Suffolk Council to install 34 solar panels to the roof of its leisure centre building off the B1123 in Bulcamp, near Halesworth.
Blyth View Leisure Centre offers a gym, swimming pool, and table tennis and is next to a Grade II listed former workhouse in the parish of Blythburgh.
Alongside the solar panels, the leisure centre hopes to install a twin electric vehicle charging pedestal in the adjacent roadway at Blyth View.

The leisure centre building serves those living in the nearby converted former workhouse.
Planning documents said: "The appearance of the leisure centre building will be changed somewhat by the use of the PV on most of its roof, but that visual change does not adversely impact the existing building's modern character, nor the setting to the listed building."
If approved, the EV charger will be installed by Rolec and features an LCD screen, and the photovoltaic panels will be installed by JA Solar.
East Suffolk Council aims to determine the bid by May 4.
