Dog lover and his pet Sprout launch companionship service

Experienced carer Shaun Depledge has started Ruby's Caring Paws, a mobile companionship service based in Beccles and which covers surrounding areas within a 20-mile radius.

Ruby's Caring Paws offers a range of support, from simple companionship such as going for a coffee or playing a board game, to pet-care services including dog walking and attending vet appointments.

Mr Deppedge, who has previously worked in SEND schools, children's homes, care homes, and mental health services, created the business in memory of his best friend Damien.

Damien passed away three years ago from Huntington's disease, a degenerative genetic condition, and the business will honour his kindness, compassion, and love of animals.

Mr Depledge said: "Damien was the loveliest, loyal, and compassionate man I have ever met who was cruelly taken too soon by his disease.

"In his memory and because of his love of animals, I've created a service that combines professional pet care with genuine companionship visits - addressing loneliness and isolation in our local community while supporting pet owners who need help.

"My optional companion dog visits I'm hoping will add to the service, especially for those who miss having animals around but can no longer care for pets themselves."

Mr Depledge will be joined by his dog Sir Edward Sprout, who will act as a companion dog on visits for those who would enjoy their company.

With patience and consistency, Sprout has transformed into a confident, energetic companion and is now ready to support people through caring visits.

However, after much patience, consistency, and love, he has transformed into a cheeky bundle of energy and is ready to join in with caring visits.

People can choose whether to have Sprout accompany their visit.
