Bungay once had branches of HSBC, Barclays, NatWest and Lloyds, but all have now closed, leaving locals reliant on alternative services and nearby towns for in-person support.

Now, hopes of securing a banking hub have been boosted after Waveney Valley MP Adrian Ramsay raised Bungay's case during a parliamentary debate on access to financial services.

Speaking in the Commons, Mr Ramsay said Bungay highlighted the challenges faced by rural communities that have lost their banks but do not meet the current criteria for a banking........
