'Inexperienced' Tesla driver killed man crossing road after accelerating up to 80mph
Zack Garrido, who was said to be "inexperienced" about his vehicle's acceleration, had been driving along South Beach Parade, Great Yarmouth, within the 30mph speed limit before he dramatically sped up.

Norwich Crown Court heard Garrido, who had only been leasing the Model 3 electric Tesla vehicle for about a month, struck Paul Leavy, who had been crossing the road at the time.

Peter Gair, prosecuting, said the 39-year-old father-of-two and grandfather-of-one suffered multiple injuries, resulting in a “rapid death” following the crash at about 9.45pm on August 27, 2024.
The prosecutor said Mr Leavy had been “crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing” at the point he was struck by Garrido.
