New apartments could be unveiled as part of coastal complex
A new retirement living complex with 36 apartments could be created on vacant land.
However the proposed redevelopment of the 0.95 acres site in Reydon, near Southwold has sparked opposition from locals and an objection from Reydon Parish Council, citing conflicts with the village's Neighbourhood Plan.
A scheme was submitted to East Suffolk Council for the site on land south of Sole Bay Health Centre in Teal Close, Reydon in July last year, but the applicants McCarthy Stone revised its plans over drainage and highways issues.
It could see 20 one-bedroom and 16 two-bedroom apartments created with the complex including a communal lounge area, external charging facilities, mobility scooters parking provision, more than 20 car park spaces and landscaping.
Documents said: "The Teal Close Retirement Accommodation will provide a high quality scheme providing the area with much needed purpose-built accommodation for the over 60s."
The proposed new retirement living complex would be up to 2.5 storeys in height.
A decision is likely to be made by East Suffolk Council in the coming weeks.
