The ALB group is set to convert the former Wilko and Poundland site on St Stephens Street, which closed in 2023, into 70 flats for young professionals.

Branded as “regeneration specialists”, the Nottingham-based business behind the proposal also plans to provide two shop units on the ground floor.

The company put the scheme to City Hall in June and the council have now approved the plans.

The site sits on a key junction into the city in close proximity to Chantry........
