Police officer attacked in broad daylight outside department store

The incident happened at about 7pm on Thursday outside Jarrolds in London Street, Norwich.

Pictures from the scene show a man wearing sunglasses being put into cuffs, and a woman with her mouth agape as she is detained by an officer.

Eyewitnesses on the side-lines of the kerfuffle were seen recording on their mobile phones.

Officers arrested the man on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly and the woman on suspicion of failing to appear at court and assaulting a police officer.

Both were taken to Aylsham Police Investigation Centre for questioning and were charged.

Darren Wooding, 58, of Poppy Street, Wymondham, was charged with being drunk and disorderly in a public place.

He was bailed to appear before Norwich Magistrates' Court on June 16.

Kimberley Hardy, aged 38, of no fixed address, was charged with assaulting a constable in the execution of his duty.

She was bailed to appear before Norwich Magistrates' Court on May 15.
