Oliver Bond, who opened Holbrook Sofa Company in the Royal Arcade towards the end of November last year, says having a physical store has been a "game changer" for his business.

He said: "I think people want to come in and see the sofas and having someone to talk to has also made all the difference."

Following the launch of the new retail spot, Mr Bond also said January was a "surprising" month with sales surpassing expectations.

Customers have also come in to call on the business' upholstering expertise for furniture they already own, which is another bespoke service offered at Holbrook Sofa Company.

Mr Bond says he takes pride in ensuring "customers go away from the store and feel like they have been looked after".

Mr Bond said: "One of our customers came in who was really tall and we were able to make the legs higher on a sofa he ordered so that he could sit on them better."

Holbrook Sofa Company, which has its manufacturing shop in Brooke, is made up of a team of nine people with more than 100 years of experience in furniture making between them.

A key selling point for the business is making sofas that can be passed on to future generations.

Mr Bond has said he is so confident in the product's quality that each sofa comes with a lifetime warranty.

Before moving into the unit at the Royal Arcade, Mr Bond and his team had to carry out has some work done to it to make room for the furniture.

Customers have the option of ordering online or visiting the store to see - and try - a range of sofas in bold colours and patterns.
