'Major improvements' needed for store hit with one-star rating
Bosses at Ars Corbet Store, which is located on Corbet Avenue in Sprowston, have been told they also need to improve their hygienic food handling after an inspection on January 9.
Food and hygiene inspectors for Broadland District Council said the systems and checks in place to ensure food sold or served is safe to eat required "major improvement necessary".
They also found issues over whether staff know about food safety.
According to the council's regulations, the food safety officer must have "confidence that standards will be maintained in the future", which also required "major improvement".
However, the inspectors noted the cleanliness and condition of facilities and the building to be generally satisfactory.
The store is not the only business hit with the low rating recently.
Lincoln Shopper, on Portersfield Road, which sells a range of groceries, was also handed a one-star rating.
But the store's owner said the reasons for the result were "structural issues beyond our immediate control".
