Leader ready to take government to court over axe for Norfolk's councils
South Norfolk Council has written to the government to confirm it is ready to seek a High Court judicial review if ministers proceed with the controversial local government reorganisation.
The Conservative-run council has sent a pre-action protocol letter to secretary of state Steve Reed claiming his decision-making around the shake-up was unlawful.
Under his Labour government's proposals, Norfolk's eight councils are due to be replaced by three unitary authorities - Greater Norwich City Council, East Norfolk Council and West Norfolk Council - by 2028.
