Norfolk County Council has announced it has planted more than 634,000 trees towards its target to get a million put in the ground.

But political opponents have sought reassurances that the trees will fare better than those previously planted along the NDR on the edge of Norwich.

Thousands of those trees perished and replacement saplings had to be planted, with the council blaming hot weather and difficulties in getting water to them next to a busy road.
