Bell: Will Smith lay down the law to Alberta separatists? We'll have to wait

Had to toss the political puzzler Premier Danielle Smith’s way Monday.

After all, the latest poll from late last week shows support for Smith and the UCP dropping in Calgary, now trailing Naheed Nenshi in the city by several points.

Yes, trailing Nenshi in Calgary. The UCP and NDP are tied in the province.

And, after all, Smith and the UCP just lost a byelection battle in the deep south of Calgary, true blue conservative country.

This is not some poll, some sample. This is actual voters heading to the ballot box and sending a message.

And, one last after all, more than a few Calgarians have told me and no doubt have likely told others they would love to have the vote on Alberta remaining in Canada today.

Be done with it. They’ve heard enough. Alberta is not separating from Canada.

That’s what I am hearing and this is not coming from individuals who can be written off as commie, woke, leftie, Liberal-loving, New World Order true-believing individuals.

Most of the people I’m talking about are not thrilled by the idea of Premier Naheed Nenshi.

But the reality is there. If there was an election........
