Staying power

I’m usually up and out of Fayetteville relatively early on Sunday mornings, win, lose or draw. I may drive past the stadium on my way out, but other than that, I’m southbound with wind in my hair, one hand on the wheel, and a Sonic sausage, egg and cheese biscuit in the other.

I’ve done it so often I could drive it in reverse with my eyes closed, and that’s where I was two Sundays ago; but don’t worry, I kept my eyes open. Even though losing to Tennessee was disappointing, improvement could be seen and there’s a good chance I’ll go up to see what we can do against Missouri on Saturday. You never know. The Arkansas Razorbacks are about as predictable as Arkansas weather.

For instance, after dabbling in a walking/exercise routine last year, I upped it a notch this summer and started training for a 20-mile hike around Pinnacle Mountain set for early March. To make a long story short, all summer I walked early in the morning to avoid the excruciating heat that set in by about 10 a.m. However, last Saturday, only a week after tailgating through 90-degree summer heat in Fayetteville, we were catapulted to a 70-degree, nary a cloud in the sky, bluebird weekend in Little Rock.

And, what a weekend it was. In addition to my two three-mile walks on Saturday and Sunday, I saw live music at a wall-to-wall........
