My husband provides for our household financially. He earns all the income, but I stay home with our baby. But when it comes to emotional support, he shuts down. He says it’s my job to handle the baby and the house since he is never home. I don’t remember agreeing to this so how do I talk to him about this? – Lonely Mama
Lonely Mama – That’s odd because it usually takes two people to create a household and a child. This resentment is only going to brew inside of you, and you are going to explode at the wrong moment and maybe in front of the baby. Sit down and have a heart to heart with him. Let him know that you are possibly experiencing postpartum depression, you’re feeling overwhelmed and you need his help. Explain to him that you are grateful that he does provide financially so you can stay home with your baby instead of putting the baby in daycare, but it doesn’t mean he gets out of parental responsibilities. Come up with a plan where maybe he gives the baby a bath or feeds the baby while you go take a bath and relax for a little bit. And remind him that you’re........
