My favorite tradition pertaining to the event is the annual Masters Champions Dinner, held on the Tuesday leading up to the tournament.

Each year, the former Masters champions and the Augusta National chairman get together for a meal inside the course clubhouse, for which the previous year’s winner pays for and gets to pick the menu.

This is an annual tradition that receives a massive amount of public attention and scrutiny. Champions are often encouraged to pick a menu that is somewhat culturally fitting for their background, but is also diverse and delicious.

2025 champ Rory McIlroy’s meal was, by all accounts, a slam dunk. The Northern Irish golfer mulled over his selections for 11 months, opting for a crowd-pleasing selection rather than a culturally significant one.

“People keep asking me why you didn’t go more Irish? And I said, because I want to enjoy the dinner as well,” McIlroy told the media ahead of the dinner, receiving a ripple of laughter from the press pool.
