SNOBELEN: Government pandemic edicts have real-life consequences

A few days ago, I ran into a former Member of Provincial Parliament from a riding near my previous haunt.It was nice to see someone who obviously had made a successful transition from Ontario’s Queen’s Park to Main Street.

We exchanged a few pleasantries — or as pleasant as you can be from six feet through a mask — and went on about our business. Just a nice exchange with a fellow traveller.

While we were chatting, I brought up a thought that had crossed my mind a few times this fall; these aren’t the easiest days to be an MPP.

I believe we both breathed – through our masks – a sigh of relief that we were not conducting the people’s business at a local constituency office.

Most former politicians will tell you that it isn’t the large policy initiatives they remember fondly. The best memories are of the folks who came to........
